2014/15 Midseason Review

At the midpoint of the 2014/15 season the Swansea Titans sit top of the South West Conference at 4 & 0 with wins over the Blitz, Bulldogs, and Gladiators, and Welsh rivals Cardiff Cobras. At the beginning of the year the Titans goal by the midpoint would have been to be exactly where they are now, and with the all other teams in the division with at least one loss the Titans are in the best position to claim the South West.

After an explosive 2013/14 season on offense the Titans have not disappointed in 2014, putting up 135 points in 4 games, that’s over 33 points a game. Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of the year so far has been the consistency of the defense, which has given up just one score in 4 games. 2014 might be the first year in Titans history where the Titan offense and defense have played equally well at the same time, for a prolonged period of time.

Running back, Jacob Amadi, currently leads the Titans with 5 rushing TDs, QB Simon George is just one behind with 4 rushing. George's 5 passing TDs have been somewhat shared around, CJ Caparas leads the team with 2 TD receptions, ‘Dutch’, Tom Plumbly and Simeon Stoodley all have one a piece. On defense, Captain Adam Salter leads the team in tackles and is tied for picks with Rhodri Pritchard-Jones who has two picks on the year. Defensive backs David Ponting and rookie Joe Cotterill also have a pick each.

Going into 2015 the Titans come up against 3 top half teams in Bristol Barracuda, UWE Bullets and the Exeter Demons, each team posing their own unique threat. In Titans history they have never beaten the Bullets and until last year had loosing records against both Barracuda and the Demons. The Titans may lie in first spot in the South West but the team is by no means taking these challenges lightly.
