Titans First Unbeaten Regular Season 8&0!

The Titans hosted Cardiff Cobras in the second meeting of the teams in a week. The division title and playoff seeding depended on this winner-takes-all climax to the regular season.
Cardiff won the toss and deferred leaving the Titans in possession following the kick off to start the game. What followed was a tight early game where neither offense could score due to solid defense and unnecessary penalties. However there were signs that the Titans were gaining the upper hand with long offensive drives and quick three-and-outs for the defense. The quarter finished 0-0.
The second quarter started with the Titans offense on the field in the Cardiff half. However with more penalties the Titans were forced to attempt a field goal with Joe Cotterill  hitting the upright, keeping the scores level. More of the same followed before some stout play from the defense and special teams set up the offense up in good field position. Some big plays by QB Cotterill pushed the Titans on to the 1 yard line before WR Sam Huxtable ran in a jet sweep putting the Titans deservedly in the lead for the for the first time in the game. The PAT was well closed down by the Cardiff defense and was missed giving the Titans a 6-0 lead. The following kick off led to a massive return by the Cardiff returner putting their offense on the pitch inside the Titans half. It was within the last two minutes of the half and Cardiff were forced to throw the ball with the Titan's defensive backs holding strong until a pass interference penalty was given putting the Titans under pressure. With the final few seconds going by Cardiff went for the field goal, threatening to end the shutout. Incredibly Cotterill was there again to block the field goal, ending the half with the Titans 6-0 up.
The Titans kicked off the second half and instantly put pressure on the Cardiff offense who could find a way through the Titans defense. It wasn't long before the defense forced a recovered a fumble on the Cardiff 10 yard line bringing the offense on in a brilliant position. On one of the next few plays Huxtable ran in again putting the Titans up another 6 before Cotterill extended the lead with the PAT. Titans up 13-0. With the momentum strongly with the Titans, the following kickoff Jacob Amadi rips the ball from the Cardiff receiver's arms and gets downed on the Cardiff 28 yard line bring the offense straight back onto the field. The following drive however was short and on the fourth down the fieldgoal unit was brought on setting up on the 35 yard line. Cotterill converted the long kick putting the Titans up 16-0. Shortly after the 3rd quarter ended.
By the start of the fourth quarter the Titans were buoyant while on the other sideline Cardiff were looking deflated. Consistent pressure from the defense with big tackles coming from players such as LBs George Downs-Wheeler, Jacob Amadi and Dom Salzano forced Cardiff to punt every drive, while the offense moved their way up the pitch only to let themselves down by penalties. Cardiff's offence did very well under pressure not to concede any points as they were backed up to their goal line on two occasions.  Another fieldgoal was converted by Cotterill near the end of the half and the final few minutes of the game were see out giving. The Titans earned their first perfect season in their history and their second division championship in as many years, on top of getting a shut out of their local rivals. They now enter the playoffs as the number 1 seed looking to continue their momentum at home next week against another divisional rival, the UWE Bullets.

We would also like to congratulate RB Josh Huges on his proposal to his girlfriend at the end of the game!
